How we help others

Our weekly coffee mornings support various charities. These include ‘Breadline’, a charity working with communities in Moldova, The Community for Reconciliation, Christian Aid, Just Drop In (supporting unemployed young people), Christians Against Poverty, Macmillan Cancer Support, Shelter (for homeless people), The Alzheimer’s Society and Versus Arthritis.

The church has a long-standing involvement with a variety of local voluntary organisations and its premises are used for Winter Homelessness Action, Street Angels and a Christmas lunch for the lonely and homeless.

COMMITMENT FOR LIFE is very important to all United Reformed Churches and is organised through our involvement with Christian Aid. It encourages all churches to take action, pray and give for people across the world.

Last year, £550,000 was raised by URC Churches nationally to help the root causes of poverty. 75% of funds raised goes to Christian Aid to be divided equally amongst our 4 partner regions Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and Central America (Hounduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatamala). 10% is donated to The World Development Movement and 15% is kept for administration, resources and grant giving. It is the recommended way for all United Reformed Churches to respond to the greater needs of our world through Christian Aid. We are privileged to share in this project and invite you to join us.
